wmantly 93a022bd66 release(v2.0.4): build Dockerfile.openldap FROM the published base image (#188)
ldapbuild now pulls ghcr.io/theta42/openldap-nestgroup:<pinned commit>
instead of compiling OpenLDAP from source on every build.

wmantly 8a9de94d24 release/v1.26.0: complete group model, enforce naming, fix docs + status dots (#166)
* feat: complete the group model (god_admin, site groups, aggregates), enforce naming, fix docs 500s + status dots (v1.26.0)

- seed god_admin + nest into app_super_admin; auto-provision site groups (S_super_admin, S_hosts_*/S_apps_* aggregates, S_everyone) on site create + self-heal on Directory load
- map service resources to the app kind (site_local_app_<slug>_*); nest per-resource groups into site aggregates (physical inheritance lattice)
- enforce the group naming convention server-side on POST /groups; surface god_admin + site groups on the site resource modal
- fix in-app /docs/<slug> 500s (Dockerfile never copied docs/); serve doc images at /docs/images
- fix Directory status dots (neutral grey when agent endpoint unreachable); align Profile/API cards full-width
- group resolver: keep the site slug verbatim (site_local not re-slugified)
- bump to 1.26.0

* fix: use verbatim resource slugs in group names (matches access-request tests + live convention)

The group naming inserts a kind segment (resourceGroupCns(site, kind, slug, level)),
but the access-request tests + the live directory convention are verbatim
({site}_{slug}_{level} -- the kind is carried in the resource slug, e.g. host_theta-env).
For bare test slugs this produced site_x_host_artest-host_x_access instead of the
expected site_x_artest-host_x_access, so the requester was never removed from the
auto-provisioned access group and every request 409'd. resourceGroupCns is now
(site, slug, level) with the verbatim slug; the kind is used only to pick the
aggregate the group nests into.

wmantly ecd21c4984 feat: v1.17.2 post-deploy fixes + SMS/TOS on /conf
- auto-slug plugins (no more manual slug field)
- plugin schedule dropdown (hourly/daily/weekly + custom)
- fix /vault secrets-list 403 (per-user/app/admin list grants on dir path;
ensurePolicy always re-writes so existing policies get the grant)
- fix /profile literal {{...}} tags (header uid span, members label id,
  admin-actions moved inside jq-repeat=user scope)
- fix plugin editing (Edit modal non-secret only; secrets have own modal)
- nmap: apk add nmap in Dockerfile.openldap + clearer missing-binary error
- add SMS (VoIP.ms) config card to /conf (password masked, leave-blank-to-keep)
- move Terms of Service editor from Overview to /conf

wmantly 4a592f9795 Release 1.11.0: end-user catalog, access requests, nested groups
Closes the end-user half of the directory and adds nested LDAP groups.

The directory could describe the lab but could not tell anyone what they had
or how to reach it, and several of the paths meant to do so were silently
returning nothing:

  - GET /api/discovery/me resolved groups from req.user.groups, which does not
exist (req.user carries memberOf), so it returned only isPublic resources
for every human caller -- "My Services" was blank for everyone. The same
read made isDirectoryAdmin() false for real admins.
  - The portal's "Discover More Services" called the admin-gated endpoint and
swallowed the 403, so it never rendered for non-admins at all.
  - Services reported no address, because /me had reimplemented getMyAccess
    without its parent-walking resolution.

Adds the catalog at /, self-service access requests, and admin access
visibility (per-resource counts, and the reverse "what can this user reach").

Nested groups come in two halves. groupOfNames.member already accepts a group
DN, so nesting needs no schema -- what it needs is resolution, which no
released OpenLDAP performs. The all-in-one image therefore builds slapd from a
pinned master commit for the nestgroup overlay, and the app computes the
closure itself when pointed at a server without it. Both paths are covered.

member-values is deliberately left out of nestgroup-flags: it expands `member`
when reading a group, which destroys the distinction between "listed here" and
"reachable through a nested group" and is not recoverable afterwards.

Full suite green in both resolution modes: 215 passed, 2 skipped.

wmantly 17fcf2fed0 docs: direct LDAP binds are first-class, not "legacy"
Linux hosts are a primary consumer of the directory — PAM/SSSD login,
LDAP-backed sudo rules (sudoRole), and SSH public keys (openssh-lpk) —
which is exactly what the custom schemas exist for. Describe LDAPS /
StartTLS consumers as "Linux hosts and LDAP-native apps" instead of
"legacy apps" across README, DEPLOYMENT, docs, and the Dockerfile.

wmantly f323a45fef Add CHANGELOG.md, serve it in-app at /docs/changelog (closes theta42/theta-env#43)
GitHub Releases already carried real changelog notes per tag, but
those require internet access to view -- exactly what the /docs
route exists to avoid. CHANGELOG.md is a committed, Keep-a-Changelog
style file (backfilled from the v1.1.0/v1.1.1/v1.1.2 release notes),
linked from README and served at /docs/changelog alongside the rest
of the project's docs.

wmantly 955189d08a Air-gap: remove dead CDN reference + in-app /docs
- Removed a dead IE<9-only html5shim script tag pointing at a domain
  that no longer resolves.
- New GET /docs (index) and /docs/:slug routes render this project's
  own README, DEPLOYMENT, API.md, docs/*.md, and directory_spec.md
server-side via marked -- so the documentation is readable from the
running app with no route to GitHub Pages, where it otherwise only
lives. Public, no auth, rate-limited (middleware/rate_limit.js) like
  the other public routes.
- .dockerignore/Dockerfile.openldap updated to copy DEPLOYMENT.md,
API.md, directory_spec.md, and docs/ into the image, mirroring the
  existing tos.md -> /tos.md convention.

wmantly 4b0a9e9038 Add standalone backup script and admin update-check banner
ops/backup.sh snapshots LDAP (slapcat), Redis (BGSAVE, dynamic RDB path
lookup), and ./config for standalone deployments, with retention. A
background service polls GitHub releases every 24h and surfaces an
admin-only banner in the UI when a newer version is published.

wmantly 38cc6696a4 Fix commit hash not showing in Docker builds (#43)
* Fix commit hash not showing in Docker builds

build_info.js computed buildHash via `git rev-parse --short HEAD` at
runtime, but the final image intentionally has no git binary and no
.git directory (kept lean, per .dockerignore) — so this always failed
silently and the footer's version line showed "unknown" for every
Docker deployment. Working correctly only for bare-metal/dev, where
git + .git are actually present.

Added a throwaway gitinfo build stage that reuses the main base image
(no extra pull) with git installed just for this stage, reads .git
from the build context (now no longer excluded — see .dockerignore),
and bakes the resolved short hash into a small file that IS copied
into the final image. build_info.js reads that file first, falling
back to the old git-rev-parse behavior (still needed for bare-metal).

Verified against a real build: `docker exec sso-manager cat
/app/.build_commit` matches `git rev-parse --short HEAD` on the host,
and the footer now shows the real hash instead of "unknown". Same fix
already applied to proxy (theta42/proxy#133).

* Support GIT_COMMIT build-arg override for submodule builds

The gitinfo stage from the previous commit works for a standalone
clone (.git is a real directory) but not when this repo is built as a
git submodule (e.g. from theta-env): a submodule's .git is a pointer
FILE, not a directory — the real object database lives in the
superproject's .git/modules/, outside this repo's own directory and
therefore outside Docker's build context entirely. `git rev-parse`
can never resolve it from in here no matter what, so builds via
theta-env still baked in "unknown" despite the earlier fix.

Add an optional GIT_COMMIT build-arg that, when set, wins over the
in-context git resolution. theta-env's setup.sh now computes it on the
host (where the submodule DOES resolve correctly) and passes it via
docker-compose.yml's build.args. Same fix in proxy: theta42/proxy#133.

Verified via theta-env's actual setup.sh end to end: rebuilding with
this change, `docker exec sso-manager cat /app/.build_commit` now
matches `git -C sso-manager-node rev-parse --short HEAD` on the host
(previously: "unknown").

wmantly 665a41cfde Load sudo + openssh-lpk schemas in the all-in-one image; fix schema COPY
The SSO app (nodejs/models/user_ldap.js addPosixAccount) tags every new user
with objectClasses [inetOrgPerson, sudoRole, ldapPublicKey, posixAccount, top,
theta42Person] and writes sudoHost/sudoCommand/sudoUser + sshPublicKey. The
all-in-one image's slapd.conf only included core/cosine/inetorgperson/nis +
theta42, so creating a user failed: sudoRole and ldapPublicKey were unknown
objectClasses (LDAP objectClassViolation 65) and sudoHost/sudoCommand/sudoUser
and sshPublicKey were unknown attributes.

Ship the two missing schemas and include them in slapd.conf:
  - ops/schema/sudo.schema (sudoRole + sudo* attributes)
  - ops/schema/openssh-lpk.schema (sshPublicKey + ldapPublicKey)

sudoRole is AUXILIARY here, not STRUCTURAL as in upstream sudo. The app
attaches sudoRole directly onto the user entry, which is already inetOrgPerson
(STRUCTURAL); two unrelated structural classes violate RFC 4512 and OpenLDAP
rejects with 65. AUXILIARY lets it coexist with inetOrgPerson — the app's
per-user-sudoers model. sudo's LDAP backend still finds entries via
(objectClass=sudoRole) regardless. ldapPublicKey is AUXILIARY as in upstream
openssh-lpk.

Also fix the build error from the previous theta42 schema PR: .dockerignore
excluded all of ops/, so 'COPY ops/schema/theta42.schema' failed at build
time ('not found' — file is git-tracked but stripped from the context). Re-
include ops/schema/*.schema with !exceptions, matching the existing
README.md/tos.md pattern.

wmantly ef7b6215bd Load the theta42 (dateOfBirth) schema in the all-in-one image
The app (nodejs/models/user_ldap.js) adds objectClass theta42Person whenever a
user has a dateOfBirth, and lists it among every new user's objectClasses. But
the all-in-one image's static slapd.conf only included core/cosine/inetorgperson/
nis — never the project's own theta42 schema — so slapd rejects
objectClass: theta42Person with LDAP 0x15 (objectClass: value #0 invalid per
syntax). Symptom: PUT /api/user/<uid> (and user creation) failing.

ops/ldap-setup.sh loads this schema for bare-metal (as a cn=config LDIF); the
Docker image uses slapd.conf, so ship it as a .schema file and include it.

- ops/schema/theta42.schema: dateOfBirth attribute + theta42Person auxiliary
  objectClass (same OIDs/definition as ldap-setup.sh section 5).
- Dockerfile.openldap: COPY it to /etc/openldap/schema/theta42.schema.
- docker-entrypoint.sh: include it in the generated slapd.conf (after nis).

wmantly fe9b7c168b Dockerize SSO Manager (all-in-one image) + GitHub Pages docs
All-in-one Dockerfile.openldap bundling the app + OpenLDAP + Redis in one
container, plus an idempotent bare-metal install.sh, and a Jekyll docs site
for GitHub Pages:
- Dockerfile.openldap (node:20-alpine; openldap + pw-sha2/ppolicy/memberof/
  refint; dumb-init PID 1; npm ci --omit=dev; tos.md copied to /).
- docker-entrypoint.sh: generate slapd.conf (mdb + overlays + TLS + indexes +
access), self-signed LDAPS cert, seed directory tree + required groups,
bundled redis, export app_* config, exec node.
- docker-compose.yml, .dockerignore, DEPLOYMENT.md, secrets.js.example.
- install.sh: idempotent Debian/Ubuntu bare-metal installer (Node 20.x,
OpenLDAP, Redis, systemd unit) with flags + --dry-run/--skip-ldap/--skip-app.
- ops/ldif/: memberof/refint/tls/index/nodes/logging LDIFs.
- nodejs/conf/base.js: generic defaults (dc=example,dc=com / localhost /
SSO Manager) so per-deployment values move to secrets.js or app_* env.
- nodejs/package.json: bump @simpleworkjs/conf to ^1.1.0 (app_* env overrides).
- nodejs/routes/index.js: /health endpoint for healthchecks.
- docs/: _config.yml + index/deployment/configuration/oauth/ldap pages
(jekyll-theme-cayman) for GitHub Pages from /docs.
